Custom Furniture in Qatar

Bespoke furniture designed, built, and installed by our Doha workshop — for homes, hotels, offices, and Majlis spaces across Qatar.

Custom Furniture in Qatar

Off-the-shelf furniture is built for an average room, an average user, and an average budget — which is why it rarely fits the space, the use, or the standard you actually wanted. Custom furniture solves that. At Cedars Trading & Contracting, we design and manufacture bespoke pieces in our own Doha workshop, made to your dimensions, materials, and finish — for residential interiors, hospitality projects, corporate offices, and traditional Majlis settings across Qatar. Founded in Doha in 2011, our team has supplied custom furniture to The St. Regis Doha, Marriott NEOM (Sindalah Island), The Chedi Hotel, and private villas across Lusail, The Pearl, and West Bay.

Most custom furniture projects in Qatar go wrong in the same way: the design is outsourced to one company, the manufacturing to another, and the installation to a third — and when something doesn’t fit or finish properly, nobody is responsible. Cedars handles design, prototyping, manufacturing, finishing, and installation under one roof. The hands sketching the piece are the same hands that build it, deliver it, and stand behind it on day one and year five.

Why Clients Choose Cedars for Custom Furniture in Qatar

A bespoke piece of furniture is an investment, and the right maker is the difference between a piece that improves the room for a decade and one that disappoints inside a year. Here is what makes our approach different from a standard furniture supplier.

  • Doha-based design and manufacturing team with over a decade of bespoke furniture projects across Qatar.
  • In-house workshop — joinery, upholstery, finishing, and metalwork all happen under one roof, not subcontracted.
  • Single point of accountability: design, materials selection, build, finishing, delivery, and installation managed by one team.
  • Hospitality-grade construction standards applied to every piece, regardless of whether it’s heading to a hotel, a villa, or an office.
  • Detailed itemised quotes with shop drawings before production — you approve dimensions, materials, and finish before a single board is cut.
  • Active across all Qatar regions: Doha, Lusail, The Pearl, West Bay, Al Sadd, Al Waab, Al Rayyan, Education City, Al Wakrah, Al Khor, Umm Salal, Al Daayen, and Mesaieed.

Furniture We Make

Our custom furniture work spans every category a Qatari interior typically needs — from intimate residential pieces to full hospitality fit-out packages. Each category has its own technical demands, and our workshop is set up to handle all of them.

Residential Custom Furniture

Sofas, dining tables, beds, wardrobes, dressing tables, study desks, entertainment units, bookcases, and statement pieces for villas, apartments, and penthouses across Lusail, The Pearl, West Bay, and Al Rayyan. Built to the exact dimensions of your room, in the materials and finish you’ve chosen — and matched to the rest of the interior so nothing feels added on.

Hospitality Custom Furniture

Guestroom packages, restaurant seating, lobby pieces, banquettes, banquet tables, and lounge furniture for hotels, restaurants, cafés, and spas — including five-star clients like The St. Regis Doha, Marriott NEOM, and The Chedi Hotel. Hospitality pieces have to survive years of daily commercial use, comply with fire ratings, and meet operator specifications, and our manufacturing standards are built around exactly that.

Office & Corporate Furniture

Reception desks, executive desks, boardroom tables, custom workstations, meeting room credenzas, and breakout-area seating for corporate clients across West Bay, Lusail, and Doha business districts. Designed around how your team actually works — cable management, acoustic considerations, and ergonomic dimensions all built in.

Arabic Majlis Furniture

Traditional and contemporary Majlis seating, low tables, ottomans, cushion-backed banquettes, and matching accent pieces — built in the proportions, fabrics, and detailing that suit a proper Qatari Majlis. We work with both classical Arabesque references and modern minimalist interpretations, depending on the host’s preference.

Outdoor & Terrace Furniture

Weather-resistant lounge sets, dining tables, sun loungers, and built-in seating for villa terraces, rooftop lounges, and pool decks. Built with marine-grade hardware, UV-stable finishes, and frames engineered for Qatar’s climate — no warping, no rust, no fading after one summer.

Statement & Heritage Pieces

One-off pieces — carved doors, hand-finished cabinetry, marquetry tables, gilded mirrors, and family heritage commissions. These are the projects where the brief is unusual and the piece needs to last generations, and our workshop is set up to take them on.

What’s Included in a Cedars Custom Furniture Project

A complete bespoke furniture project with Cedars covers every step required to take a piece from idea to installed and styled. Depending on the brief, scope typically includes:

  • Design consultation and brief development
  • Concept sketches and mood boards
  • 3D visuals and renders for sign-off where useful
  • Detailed shop drawings with dimensions, materials, and joinery details
  • Material sourcing: solid hardwoods, veneers, stone, metal, glass, leather, and fabric
  • Prototyping and sample approvals (finish swatches, fabric samples, hardware samples)
  • Manufacturing in our Doha workshop — joinery, upholstery, metalwork, and finishing
  • Quality control inspection at the workshop before dispatch
  • Delivery and on-site installation across Qatar
  • Final styling, snagging, and handover with care instructions

Our Custom Furniture Process

Every Cedars custom furniture project follows a structured process designed to keep the design intent, the cost, and the timeline aligned from the first conversation to the day the piece arrives in your space. You sign off at each stage before we move to the next.

  1. Brief & Consultation

We meet at your home, office, or our Doha studio to understand the piece you have in mind — how it needs to function, what it needs to coordinate with, and where it will sit. We take site dimensions, photograph adjacent finishes, and review any existing pieces or references you already have. Initial consultations within Qatar are complimentary.

  1. Design & Specification

Our design team produces concept sketches, material proposals, and 3D visuals where useful. We present finish samples — wood, fabric, leather, metal, stone — so you can feel the materials before signing off. Deliverables: concept drawings, material schedule, and a clear specification document.

  1. Quotation & Approval

You receive a detailed itemised proposal — line by line by component, material, and finish — so you see exactly where the budget goes. Dimensions, materials, and detailing can be adjusted before you sign off. Production begins only after the contract and shop drawings are agreed.

  1. Manufacturing & Finishing

The piece is built in our Doha workshop. Our project manager coordinates the joinery, upholstery, finishing, and metalwork teams against a published programme. We share progress photos at key milestones — frame complete, finish applied, upholstery fitted — so you see the piece take shape before it leaves the workshop.

  1. Delivery, Installation & Handover

Final QC inspection in the workshop, careful packing, delivery to your address, and installation by our team. Once the piece is in place, we run a snagging walk-through, address any issue, and provide care and maintenance documentation. Larger projects include a styling pass to make sure the piece sits well in the room.

Single Piece vs. Full Furniture Package — What’s Right for Your Project?

Not every custom furniture brief is the same. Understanding the three common project types will help you decide which suits your situation.

Single Statement Piece

One bespoke piece — a dining table, a bed, a reception desk, a Majlis sofa — designed and built to fit a specific spot in an otherwise finished interior. Best for: clients who have a room that’s nearly there but missing the right anchor piece, or who want a feature commission with serious presence.

Coordinated Furniture Package

A set of pieces designed together — for example, a full living room (sofa, coffee table, side tables, console), a master bedroom (bed, wardrobes, dressing table, bench), or a Majlis (seating, low tables, accent pieces). Best for: clients furnishing a whole room or wing where every piece needs to feel like part of the same family.

Full Project Furniture Package

A complete furniture package designed alongside an interior fit-out or villa handover — every loose and built-in piece in the home or property. Best for: developers, hospitality operators, and homeowners doing a full residential fit-out who want the furniture to integrate with the joinery, finishes, and lighting from day one.

Where Cedars Fits

We deliver all three. Most residential clients start with a single piece or a coordinated package; most hospitality and commercial clients commission full packages alongside a fit-out. We will tell you honestly which approach makes sense once we understand the scope — and we are equally comfortable making one beautiful chair or a hundred.

Quality, Materials & Craftsmanship Standards

Custom furniture lives or dies on the materials and the joinery. Anyone can copy a shape; very few workshops in Qatar build pieces that still look right after a decade of daily use. Our team builds to:

  • Solid hardwood and certified veneer construction — we publish exactly what’s underneath every finish
  • Mortise-and-tenon, dowel, and dovetail joinery on structural pieces — no staples, no nail-only construction
  • Hospitality-grade upholstery: kiln-dried hardwood frames, eight-way hand-tied springs where appropriate, high-density foam, and fabrics rated for commercial use
  • Marine-grade or UV-stable finishes on all outdoor work
  • Fire-rated foams and fabrics on hospitality and public-area pieces, in line with Qatar Civil Defence (QCD) requirements
  • International standards (BS, ASTM, ISO) on materials and finishes where specified
  • HSE protocols across the workshop and on every installation site — toolbox talks, PPE compliance, permit-to-work systems

Common Custom Furniture Mistakes to Avoid in Qatar

After more than a decade of bespoke work in Qatar, certain mistakes appear repeatedly — usually on projects that under-invested in the planning stage. Here are the most common ones, and how a properly-run custom furniture project avoids them.

1. Approving design without seeing material samples

Renders and 3D visuals are useful, but they don’t capture grain, sheen, weight, or how a fabric actually behaves under light. Approving a piece on visuals alone is the fastest way to get a delivered product that doesn’t look like what you imagined. Always sign off on physical samples — wood, finish, fabric, leather, hardware — before production starts.

2. Choosing the cheapest quote without checking specification

Two quotes for the same piece can vary by 50% or more — usually because the cheaper one has substituted MDF for solid wood, foam for spring construction, or veneer for solid panels. A detailed itemised proposal that lists every material and component protects you from this. Compare specification line-by-line, not bottom-line.

3. Skipping the prototype on important pieces

On signature pieces — a feature dining table, a bespoke Majlis, a one-off bed — a prototype or full sample saves money in the long run. A piece that looks right on paper can feel wrong at full scale, and changes after manufacturing are expensive. For statement commissions, build a prototype.

4. Underestimating delivery and installation logistics

A four-metre dining table, a king-size headboard, or an L-shaped Majlis sofa needs a route into the property — through doors, up stairs, around corners. Most failed installations in Qatar happen because nobody measured the access route. We measure access at the survey stage, design the piece to come apart for delivery if needed, and confirm logistics before production.

5. Buying outdoor furniture that isn’t built for Qatar

Imported outdoor furniture often arrives in pristine condition and looks rusted, warped, and faded by the end of the first summer. Qatar’s combination of heat, humidity, and salt air destroys hardware and finishes that aren’t engineered for it. Outdoor pieces need marine-grade hardware, UV-stable finishes, and frames built for the climate — and that’s how we make them.

    FAQs

    Custom Furniture FAQs

Below are the questions we are asked most often before starting a custom furniture project in Qatar. If yours isn't here, send it through the form on this page and we will reply within one business day.
Q: How long does it take to make a piece of custom furniture?

A: Lead time depends on the piece, the materials, and the finish. A single upholstered piece (a sofa, an armchair, a headboard) typically takes 4–6 weeks from design sign-off. A standard joinery piece (dining table, bed, wardrobe) usually runs 5–8 weeks. Coordinated packages and complex commissions take 8–14 weeks. We confirm a programme with milestones before production, and progress is tracked weekly against it.

Q: Can you match existing furniture or finishes already in my home?

A: Yes — this is one of our most common briefs. We take samples or detailed photographs of the existing piece or finish, match the wood species, stain, sheen, and detailing in our workshop, and confirm the match against a physical sample before production. Whether you’re adding to a heritage set or extending an interior designer’s scheme, we can replicate the look without the original maker.

Q: Do you work from my designer's or architect's drawings?

A: Absolutely. If you already have a designer or architect, we are equally comfortable executing their drawings — many of our hospitality and high-end residential projects come to us this way. If the drawings need engineering or buildability input, we coordinate openly with your designer to refine details without changing the design intent.

Q: Can I change the design partway through production?

A: Minor changes are possible up to the point materials are cut and assembly begins; after that, changes mean reworking parts that have already been made, which adds cost and time. This is exactly why we invest heavily in the design and shop drawing stage — once you sign off, the piece is locked, and you get what you approved. If you do need a variation later, we document it, price it, and proceed only with your written approval.

Q: What materials do you typically work with?

A: Solid hardwoods (oak, walnut, ash, teak, mahogany, beech), certified veneers, MDF where appropriate for stability, natural stone and engineered stone tops, brass and stainless steel hardware, glass, leather, and a wide range of upholstery fabrics from local and international mills. If you have a specific material in mind that we don’t usually carry, we source it for the project.

Q: Do you make outdoor furniture suited to Qatar's climate?

A: Yes — and outdoor furniture is one of the categories where buying custom matters most. We use marine-grade stainless steel hardware, UV-stable finishes, weatherproof fabrics, and frames engineered to handle Qatar’s heat, humidity, and salt air. Properly built, an outdoor piece should look the same after five summers as it does on day one.

Q: Do you deliver and install across Qatar — and outside Qatar?

A: Yes. Delivery and installation across Qatar are included in every project — we don’t drop pieces at the door, we install them. For regional projects (UAE, KSA, and our Marriott NEOM work in Saudi Arabia), we have completed export and installation jobs and are happy to discuss logistics on a case-by-case basis.

Q: What warranty do you provide on custom furniture?

A: We provide a defects warranty on all custom-made pieces, typically 12 months from handover, covering frame construction, joinery, upholstery, and finish. Anything that fails within the warranty period is rectified at no cost. Beyond the warranty period, we remain available for repairs, refinishing, and reupholstery — your piece should last decades, not years.

Q: What happens after I submit the form on this page?

A: Our team reviews your enquiry and replies within one business day to schedule a consultation — at your space, our Doha studio, or by video call. From first contact to itemised proposal usually takes one to three weeks, depending on project complexity.
