Our Interior Design Process

Every Cedars project follows a structured five-stage process. You approve scope, design, and pricing at each stage before we move to the next — no part of your project enters manufacturing without your sign-off. This is what each stage actually involves.

1. Brief & Site Visit

We meet at the property to take measurements, photograph the space, and discuss your style, lifestyle, and priorities. You share references — Pinterest boards, magazine tear-outs, photos of spaces you love — and we ask the questions most clients haven’t been asked before: how the space will be used at different times of day, who lives or works in it, what isn’t working in the current setup. Initial consultations within Qatar are complimentary. Typical duration: 1–2 weeks.

2. Concept Design

Our designers develop mood boards, floor plans, and 3D visuals that translate your brief into a coherent design direction. You see the layout, the material palette, and the overall atmosphere before any commitment is made on furniture or finishes. Concepts are revised until the direction feels right — most projects go through one to three rounds. Deliverables: mood boards, layout drawings, 3D renders, preliminary scope. Typical duration: 2–4 weeks.

3. Materials & Detailed Design

Once the concept is approved, we finalise every finish, fabric, joinery detail, and custom furniture specification. Physical samples are provided for sign-off on woods, stones, fabrics, paints, and metal finishes — because a render can only show so much, and the wrong oak on a 5-metre wall is an expensive mistake to discover after installation. Deliverables: technical drawings, material samples, full bill of quantities (BOQ). Typical duration: 2–3 weeks.

4. Quotation & Approval

You receive a detailed itemised proposal covering design, manufacturing, materials, and installation — line by line, with no bundled mystery costs. You can adjust scope, swap materials, or phase the project across rooms before approving. Production begins only after you sign off on both the design and the price. Typical duration: 1 week.

5. Manufacturing & Installation

Pieces are crafted in our Qatar workshop while site preparation runs in parallel. Our project managers coordinate deliveries, installations, and any third-party trades involved. We handle snagging, final styling, and handover so you walk into a finished space — not a half-built one waiting on three subcontractors. Duration depends on project size: 4–8 weeks for a single room, 12–24 weeks for a full villa.

European oak, American black walnut, teak, mahogany, ash, and reclaimed timber. We finish woods with natural oils, matt or satin lacquers, hand-distressed treatments, or traditional Arabic detailing depending on the design language.

Stones & Surfaces

Carrara, Calacatta, Statuario, travertine, onyx, and engineered quartz. We also work with porcelain large-format slabs, sintered stone, and solid surface materials for kitchens, bathrooms, and feature walls.

Fabrics, Leathers & Upholstery

Premium European mills for upholstery fabrics, full-grain and aniline leathers, performance velvets, linens, bouclé, and outdoor-grade textiles for Qatar’s terraces and rooftops. All upholstery is hand-finished in our Doha workshop.

Metal Finishes

Brushed brass, antique bronze, blackened steel, polished chrome, satin nickel, and powder-coated aluminium for furniture frames, hardware, lighting, and architectural detailing.

Common Interior Design Mistakes to Avoid in Qatar Homes

After more than a decade of working on Qatar interiors, certain mistakes show up again and again — usually in projects that started without a designer or were rushed through the planning stage. Here are the most common ones, and how a properly-run design process avoids them.

1. Underestimating Qatar’s climate impact on materials

Direct sun, high humidity, and dust degrade the wrong materials quickly. Untreated woods warp, low-grade upholstery fades, and outdoor fabrics fail within a season. We specify materials rated for Qatar’s conditions from the start, particularly for terraces, rooftops, and rooms with large glazing.

2. Choosing furniture before finalising layout

Buying a sofa because it photographed well in a showroom — then discovering it overwhelms the room — is one of the most common (and expensive) mistakes. Layout, scale, and sightlines are decided first; furniture is selected to fit them.

3. Ignoring storage planning in villas
