1. Site Survey & Substrate Check

We visit the site to inspect the existing substrate, take dimensions, and assess condition — moisture levels, levelness, cracks, and any preparation work required. We review the room’s use, traffic, and any underfloor heating, plumbing, or acoustic considerations. Initial site visits within Qatar are complimentary.

2. Specification & Sample Selection

Based on the site condition, the room’s use, and your design direction, we recommend suitable flooring options. We bring full-size samples (not postage-stamp catalogue chips) so you can see the actual grain, colour variation, and finish. You sign off on a physical sample, not a digital render.

3. Quotation & Approval

You receive a detailed itemised proposal — material, subfloor preparation, installation, finishing, and any specialist works shown line by line. Scope and material can be adjusted before you sign off. Mobilisation begins only after the contract and programme are agreed.

4. Subfloor Preparation & Acclimatisation

Before any flooring is laid, the substrate is corrected — self-levelling compound, screed, moisture barriers, and any acoustic or thermal layers as specified. Wood and natural materials are delivered to site early and acclimatised in the room they’ll be installed in, so they reach equilibrium before laying. This stage is non-negotiable on quality jobs and skipping it is the most common cause of floor failure in Qatar.

5. Installation & Finishing

Supply-Only

We supply the material — wood, tile, stone, vinyl — and the client’s contractor installs it. Best for: clients with an existing trusted contractor or fit-out team they want to retain, or projects where flooring is part of a wider scope already under one contractor. We provide product warranties on supplied material, but installation is the contractor’s responsibility.

Install-Only

The client supplies the material (often imported directly or specified by their architect) and we handle the installation. Best for: design-led projects with specified materials we’re happy to lay, or clients who have already procured stock. We assess the material on arrival and flag any quality issues before laying.

Common Flooring Mistakes to Avoid in Qatar

After more than a decade of flooring work in Qatar, certain mistakes appear repeatedly — and almost every failed floor we’ve been called in to remediate had one or more of these in its history. Here are the most common ones, and how a properly-run flooring project avoids them.

1. Laying flooring on a substrate that wasn’t tested or prepared

Most flooring failures in Qatar are not material failures — they are substrate failures. A concrete slab that’s holding moisture, an uneven screed, or a hollow base will destroy a wood, vinyl, or stone floor within months. Substrates must be moisture-tested, levelled to manufacturer tolerance, and primed correctly before anything is laid. This stage is invisible in the finished result, which is exactly why some contractors skip it.

2. Choosing solid hardwood without managing humidity

Solid hardwood is a beautiful floor — and a demanding one. Without controlled humidity in the property (typically 40–60% RH), planks will cup, gap, and crown with the seasons. In Qatar’s climate, engineered wood is usually the smarter choice for the same look and a fraction of the maintenance discipline. Solid hardwood is right for the right project; it’s wrong for the wrong one, and an honest contractor will tell you which is which.

3. Buying the cheapest product without checking specification

Two ‘engineered oak’ floors can vary by 200% in price — usually because the cheaper one has a 0.6mm wear layer instead of 4mm, which means it cannot be sanded or refinished, and once it scratches, the floor is finished. A proper itemised quote with product specifications protects you from this. Compare wear layer, core construction, finish, and warranty — not just price per square metre.

4. Skipping acclimatisation

Wood and natural-material floors must be delivered to site early and allowed to reach the room’s equilibrium moisture content before being laid. Skipping this — fitting a floor straight off a delivery truck — is the second most common cause of cupping, gapping, and joint failure. The acclimatisation period is in the manufacturer’s instructions for a reason.

5. Treating large-format tile like standard tile

Large-format tile (over 60×120cm) needs a flatter substrate, more adhesive, levelling clips, suction lifters, and a crew that understands the technique. Laid like standard tile, it produces lippage, hollow spots, and cracks within weeks. Most failed large-format tile installations in Qatar were laid by crews who didn’t have the right equipment or training for the format.

6. Underestimating the protection phase

A finished floor on an active fit-out site is at risk from every following trade — painters, joiners, electricians, deliveries. A floor that’s perfect at installation but not properly protected often arrives at handover with paint splashes, scratches, and dents. Protective covering, signage, and sequencing matter as much as the installation itself.
